How Family VPN processes and protects device and connection data.
Effective date: July 15, 2026
1. Data Controller
Family VPN is provided by Pavlo Gerasimenko.
For questions about personal data or deletion requests, contact: Chester@wwwchester.com.
2. Purpose of the Service
Family VPN uses Android's system VpnService and creates an encrypted WireGuard tunnel between the user's device and the VPN server. The service is used to provide VPN connectivity and the split tunneling rules selected by the user.
3. Data We Process
To register and operate a device, the service processes:
• an application installation identifier (installation ID);
• the public WireGuard key;
• a hashed Android ID; the original Android ID is not transmitted;
• technical device information, including manufacturer, model, device type, Android/API version, and application version;
• the connection IP address;
• technical service logs;
• approximate geographic information derived from the IP address.
The application also reads the list of installed applications locally on the device so the user can select which applications use the VPN. This list is not transmitted to the server.
The contents of the user's internet traffic are not analyzed, collected, or sold.
4. Data Recipients
Technical device data, the public WireGuard key, and the connection IP address are transmitted to the Family VPN server for device registration, VPN configuration delivery, service operation, security, and abuse prevention.
To determine approximate geographic information, the VPN server may send the connection IP address to ipwho.is.
Data is not sold or shared for advertising purposes.
5. Data Retention
The device record and its public WireGuard key are retained while the device actively uses the service.
If there has been no successful VPN connection for 30 days, the device record, associated VPN configuration, and public WireGuard key are deleted automatically.
IP addresses, GeoIP information, and technical records directly associated with the device are retained for no longer than 30 days.
6. Data Deletion
The application provides a “Delete my data” action. After confirmation, it disconnects the VPN and deletes the current device's data and keys from the server and the device. A new device registration and VPN configuration will be required before the service can be used again.
A deletion request may also be submitted by email to Chester@wwwchester.com.
7. User Accounts
Family VPN does not provide or require user accounts.
8. Security
Data exchanged between the application and the service API is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. The VPN tunnel is encrypted using WireGuard. Private WireGuard keys remain on the user's device in protected storage and are not sent to the server.
9. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the service or its data-processing practices change. The current version will remain available at this public address.
